Hudson will most likely end up in D7.
Division breakpoints are a guess at this point. But I do see that Hudson’s enrollment dropped by 32 kids this year down to 341, so you are probably right. I would like that, would certainly make D7 a little more interesting this year…..
Maybe next week I’ll probably replace Reading with Hudson in D7 and throw someone like Clare into D6.
Don’t know how you can rate CFFP after losing to a team that was beaten by Lake Linden Hubbell just the week before. Some of the other iffies, Saugatuck and Ithaca, need to prove themselves in postseason before getting a high ranking. Reading had a good run last year but I doubt they’re as strong this year. Three Rivers hasn’t been tested yet and that might be a little high rank for that division.
Just to recap the point of the rankings, as posted at the beginning… these are rankings after Week Three! I don’t see how you can bring up a teams lack of postseason success in a poll ranking teams after week three. (I don’t know either Saugatuck or Ithaca personally, but I just don’t understand the comment on their postseason reputation.)
Not too bad. See a few minor changes I’d make, but not bad. Think it’s too early to REALLY know for sure.
Drop Hudson from D6 to D7 and add Blissfield. I would aslo drop Nouvel and add Clare, Meridian (they play eachother next week) or Reese. My D6 would look like this: 1)Montague.. 2)Blissfield… 3) SMCC… 4) Ithaca… 5) Clare
I have to agree. Good choice for D6 teams. The “new” and improving Nouvel will be fortunate to win the 5 games to get to the dance. Clare, SM, Blissfield all are shoe-ins and should be respected for the advances to their programs.
Do Big Reds deserve top 5? A loss to Grand Haven should have dropped them more.
D6 – I think it’s likely we see Nouvel finishing 6-3 and improving each week. You really think the mighty have fallen THAT far?
When playoff time arrives do you really like Clare’s chances against Nouvel if they should meet? How about Blissfield? I’d go with Nouvel in either of these contest.
I need to take Hudson out of D6 though so someone is going in. I’d say Clare or Blissfield are good options.
They play 8 games. Will be hard for Nouvell to win 6 games with 5 games left on their schedule. Won’t beat John Glenn, nor this week’s opponent Hazel Park. That puts them at 4 losses. They’ll beat Bendle and maybe squeek one more out. Can’t see them finishing 6-2. Yes, I see Clare beating them. Watched them this year twice. Not impressive. Next year yes. This year, no.
Muskegon dropped from 1 to 5. Loaded with athletes, good Defense, just got to figure some stuff out. I havent paid much attention to the Big Reds but it appears they don’t have the passing threat this year so teams can load up to stop the run. Grand Haven put themselves in position to win and got the victory but the Big Reds beat themselves.
What D2 teams out there do you think can beat Muskegon right now? Other than the ones I have ranked anyway. And heck even some of those arent a sure thing.
I’m from St. Clair County and I root for the Mariners, but I think them being ranked #1 in D4 is unwarranted. I think they are still a year away from making a deep playoff run. I do see them going 9-0 and winning their district. But a #1 state-wide ranking may be a bit of a stretch. I may be wrong, but I don’t think so. I would love to see them go deep.
I should say that they are looking better every week, though. So they may continue to improve every week as the season progresses. That’s the thing with being such a young team. You only get better with each passing week.
and forgot Blissfield?
First off, thanks everyone for the feedback!
Sounds like I need to move Hudson to D7 next week, and add a new team to D6. I’ll take a look at Blissfield and Clare along with some other teams.
Ithaca is playing good ball. Now that they got by a good Carrollton team, if they stay focused, I dont see them being challenged again till week 8 when they take on St Charles (a team they may see again in the playoff’s). No reason to move them down though right now.
Ive’ been a high school football junkie for 15 yrs… seen games all over south eatern michigan…. I watch Madison play Marysville last friday…. trust me Madison will make it to the state finals in division 5…
I’d wait until you see how badly Hudson beats Blissfield before putting them in the top 5 in the state.
What about Highland Park in Div 3? I was alerted to them recently and they appear to be the real deal. Don’t let them fall of the radar screen.
WEEL I WOULD LOVE TO SAY YOU NEED TO LEAVE HUDSON ALONE LOOK AT HOW THEY BEAT BLISSFIELD!! LOOK OUT FORD FIELD BECAUSE HUDSON IS ON THE WAY AND HAS NO MERCY!!
